Here I am writing something about photographing couples! Although I have to admit that writing is not my strong suit I will try my best to make this blog fun for you to read :), so let’s go ..
I connected with this wonderful couple via internet. One of the perks of the 21st century technology is that it has enable us finding people over the Internet 🙂 We’ve arranged a photo session. They were a bit nervous because they were never in front of a lens of a professional photographer. I absolutely understood their fear and discomfort because not everyone is born a model but everyone wants to look fantastic in their photos. Me being a professional, such people are a challenge to me and I adore working with them. I love to make them feel comfortable and create a safe and fun space for them to feel good. A gift to me is seeing the shift in their behaviour from stiffed to playful and comfortable doing things they’ve never done before. ☺
It is very important to me to really get the know the couple before the photoshoot. I love talking to them, feeling their energy. Based on that, I give a suggestion for the location and the way of taking photos. My style of photography is documentary, which means that I like to “capture” spontaneous moments. A lot of couples, especially those who are a little more shy, like this way of taking pictures because they can be more natural and relaxed and don’t need to pose much. Of course, sometimes I like to „set them up“ a bit if a certain idea pops in my head. After many years of doing photography I can tell you that it is important to have a concept of how you want to tell their story. Also how will you translate it into photographs that will remain their memory for a lifetime.
Remember, no couple is the same and everyone needs to be approached individually and differently. I like to feel a couples energy, feel how they “breathe” together and build a story based on that.
Kristina and Ivan were one of those “easy to work with“ couples. Communication with them from the start was super relaxed. We clicked! That was very important to me as well. That click and energy is very important to me because I think it is the starting point for taking great photos. And I’m not only giving you something you can remember for the rest of your life – you’re giving me the same! Seeing my work is making people happy in any way is the greatest gift!
I gave them a couple of locations to choose from and they decided on the Kerestinec Castle. Like they knew I always wanted to use that location for a photo shoot! Another gift from you to me! ☺ The castle was abandoned for many years, but government’s plan is to open it for the public soon so the courtyard around the castle was cleared and a place was created to take phenomenal photos. Although historically looking at that castle and it doesn’t have a nice story, we decided to ignore it and dedicate ourselves to fun and photography.
There was a lot of laughter and fun in the process of photo shoot on both sides. Watching them enjoy themselves and how they absolutely forgot about me and the camera (which was my goal) I enjoyed it even more then them ☺. We got so many wonderful moments captured. Their happiness was through the roof which is best described in their review below the gallery.
I wanna say: Thank you, Kristina and Ivan for your patience, for being open minded and trusting me! Wishing you all the best in life!
