For this blog you have to be prepared for a little hiking. So if you are a nature lover it will not be a problem for you 😊. I will try to share my impressions of why I think these locations are the top locations for your mountain wedding in Croatia. A small intimate wedding here can be an unforgettable experience.
Location Ideas for your Mountain Wedding in Croatia
1. Vidova gora (Brac island)
Vidova gora is the highest mountain on the Adriatic archipelago and one of the most beautiful views on the Adriatic. Vidova gora can be reached on foot, but also by car, which is a milder way in case there are some reasons for not hiking 😊. It offers a breathtaking view of Hvar and other islands. Definitely a PLACE TO BE if you want to make vows to each other away from the public view 😊.
2. Vojak (Ucka)
Mount Vojak is located at 1400 m/n and the ascent to Vojak is quite demanding, only for the bravest 😊. However, there is also a macadam road to Vojak, so you can reach the very top by car. We chose the hiking route, of course, however when we came up we realised that others there were not sweaty and panting so it was obvious they chose the easier way up. When you climb the tower located on the top of the hill on one side you can see the view of Kvarner and on the other side you can see the interior of Istria. Blue and green. This color combination fills you with incredible energy. And if you are planning to say YES to each other, then in my opinion this is one of the best places for your mountain wedding in Croatia!
3. Lička kapa (kapa-hat)
Lička kapa is a rock located under the peak of Gola Plješivica and with its unusual shape it invites you to conquer it. Some sources state that this rock was the inspiration for making the real Lička hat. The shape of the hat reminds of this rock. The rise to the top is quite interesting and quite demanding. After all, you must hike to 1600 m/n 😊. Gola Plješivica is a natural border of Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina . Bihać, a small town from our neighbor country (BiH) can be seen from its ridge and Korenica from the Croatian side. But Lička kapa is something that left me breathless the first time I saw it. I knew that one day I have to do a photoshoot here and I even think I found one couple that would be up for it so I can’t wait to make it happen. There is a macadam road to Licka kapa, although it is used by the police to control the border, so there might even be a way to get to the top by car.
4. Velebit – Tulove grede
Velebit… A natural massif that separates the mainland of Croatia from the coastal part. This is where Tulove grede are located, a strange karst phenomenon. There is a road that was built in the 19th century and was the only connection between the Adriatic and the mainland of Croatia. The film Winnetou was shot on Tulove grede, so many fans of that film still come to visit the area today. But unlike Winnetou, to me this is a wonderful location to do a wedding session. It is accessible by motorized vehicles so the mountain itself should not be a problem. Except one problem. Here we have a wind called “bura”. With its gusts up to 200 km/h it carries everything in front of it. And it wouldn’t be very good to be in the middle of that. ☺ Unfortunately I don’t have my own photos of Tulove grede so I used ones from the internet.
5. Klek
Of course we have chosen the hardest and longest tour to reach the top, but don’t let that scare you 😊. There is also car access to a certain part, but this time you will walk a bit to get to the top. If you didn’t know, there is a story according to people who lived here in the past, which is that the top of Klek was a gathering place for witches on stormy nights, so they became kind of a symbol of Klek and city called Ogulin. From the top of Klek, the view extends to Lake Sabljaci and Ogulin, mountain Bjelolasica and even to our neighbor country Slovenia if the view is clear.
